The 38th Greencastle-Antrim Autumn Festival will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, on Kaley Field.

Sponsored by the Greencastle-Antrim Band Boosters, the event will feature 12 bands competing or performing in exhibition.

The Greencastle-Antrim Middle School band will open the festival by performing the National Anthem and a street march. The Greencastle-Antrim High School band will close the performances with an exhibition of its 2015 field show.

Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for students and senior citizens.

Gates and the concession stand will open at 4:30 p.m.

Competing in the adjudicated segment of the event, under Cavalcade of Bands rules and judges, will be high school bands from James Buchanan, Waynesboro, Carlisle, Coatesville, Conestoga Valley, Francis Scott Key, East Pennsboro, Conrad Weiser and Big Spring.

In addition to the performance by the local high school band, also in exhibition will be the Shepherd University Ram Band.

The G-AHS 2015 show is called Groove, which explores the many different types of “grooves” found in music. The show blends elements of various genres such as funk, pop, classical, and even electronica. Visually, this idea is brought to life through a magical record player that changes records as the performers change to a different “groove”.  Source material includes Let's Groove and Boogie Wonderland by Earth, Wind, and Fire; Touch by Daft Punk; Let the Groove Get In by Justin Timberlake; Hungarian Rhapsody by Franz Liszt; and Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars.

This year's band consists of 39 instrumentalists, 16 color guard members and three drum majors. The band is under the command of drum majors Emily Keefer and Keri Moore, and assistant drum major Ryan Havens. Brass and woodwind section leaders are Harrison Scott, Kaitlyn Barnes, Cole Eberly and Abigail Marconi. Percussion section leaders are Sage Hepfer, Jillian Barr and Garrett Ginter.

The band has a long tradition of excellence in competition, which includes six TOB Chapter VI Championships, 12 TOB Atlantic Coast Finals performances, three USSBA Championships and two Cavalcade of Bands Championships.
