35th Townfest on tap Saturday in Mercersburg

MERCERSBURG — The 35th annual Mercersburg Townfest, presented by the Tuscarora Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27.

“This year’s event will be bigger than ever,” chamber executive director Mary-Anne Gordon said, “110 quality art, jewelry, craft and community vendors will line both East and West Seminary Street...starting with Kids Karnival at Mercersburg Elementary School, crossing Park Street to the Presbyterian Church’s Annual Breakfast and MCFA’s Art Show, food vendors in the square, and ending just past the First United Methodist Church’s Silent Auction with those famous Townfest Amish Donuts.”

Events at Townfest include:

Kids Karnival - Sponsored by F&M Trust at Mercersburg Elementary School – Enjoy the free rock wall by Whitetail Resort, pony rides, Free Shaggy Mountain Farm Petting Zoo courtesy of Stoner’s Dairy Farm, MMPW Fire Safety area, F&M Trust Sandy Candy booth, face painting, and several family and fun vendors.

The Food Court returns to the square with BBQ, Thai food, crab cakes, ice cream and kettle corn.

DJ, Trivia and Karaoke – Sponsored by Susquehanna Bank at the Irwin House on the Square. Enjoy family trivia games and music all day. Register for the midday Karaoke contests between 9-11:30 a.m. at the DJ stand. Youth under 17 compete 12-1 and Adults 17+ 1-2. $50 for 1st place, $25 for 2nd place!

Scavenger Hunt sponsored by Mercersburg Academy - For children 12 and younger, the first 100 kids may pick up a form at the First National Bank of Mercersburg (Townfest event sponsor) booth on the square between 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. All children who turn in a complete Scavenger Hunt form before 3 p.m. will get a prize.
