Last year visitors to the fair got to milk a cow. The 2011 fair runs from Aug. 21 to 27 at the Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club.

The Franklin County fair opens Sunday and runs through Saturday, Aug. 27. It is held at 3725 Warm Spring Road, also known at Route 995, and the home of the Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club.

A new admission policy is in effect for 2011, with a car load admitted for $10, and walkins or single admission at $5. Friday the charge is $10 per person,  $3 ages 5-12, and the youngest visitors free, since that night is the popular tractor pull. Sunday everyone gets in free, with a youth horse show at 1:00 and the vesper service at 6:30 p.m.

The Monday night ride special is $1 per ride. The rest of the week a $12 arm band will allow unlimited rides between 6:30 and 10 p.m.

Highlights of the entertainment are: Monday, truck and tractor pull and fair queen contest; Tuesday, skid steer operators rodeo and karaoke contest; Wednesday, talent show and animal dressup parade; Thursday, open horse event and The Banjo Man; Friday, truck and tractor pull and Key Largo concert; and Saturday, Family Fun Day and Joe Bonso & Coffee Run.

The times and full schedule of events are listed in the fair booklet available at many retail outlets and on the website franklincountyfair.org
