First Friday in Greencastle takes on the heat of August with another great event planned for Aug. 5.  First Friday is one evening each month where the downtown shops stay open from 5 to 8 p.m. and get together with local artists, vendors, and performers for an evening of entertainment, food, and shopping.

Headlining First Friday is Kerensa Gray. Known for her powerful voice, Gray skillfully blends jazz, blues, and folk music into a style all her own.

First Friday will also mark the celebration of the grand opening of Incognito Tattoo with a special visit from the Mason-Dixon Roller Vixens.

Instead of cooking that night, consider stopping by one of the downtown restaurants for dinner and enjoy some special food options on the square. Tracey's Orchard will also be selling fresh fruit and vegetables.

This month, Tuscarora Mountain Winery will be featuring its wines at its location, and John Allison Public House will be highlighting beer from Rogue Brewery as part of the monthly wine and beer tastings.

Many new and returning artists are taking part this month, including members from the Contemporary School for the Arts and Gallery in Hagerstown, Md. Also the downtown shops will have free recipe cards of their favorite summer dishes.  Over 15 recipes will be available.
