Model railroad club to host open house

Staff reports
Children enjoy one of the sets at the Waynesboro Model Railroad Club in Waynecastle. The club is hosting an open house Dec. 5 and 6, featuring winter scenes with its four layouts.

The Waynesboro Model Railroad Club is hosting an open house this weekend, and several during the month of January. The public is invited to view the four model railroads in winter settings at the club at 3289 Waynecastle Road. The doors will be open 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the old grain building 3.5 miles east of Greencastle, a quick left after the overpass on Route 16.

Admission is free but people may leave donations or purchase tickets for three train raffles.

The hobby club meets Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and always welcomes new members. John Chillas of Greencastle is president of the organization. Anyone interested in attending a meeting may call the club at 717-762-9579. The group has created layouts in the HO, N, O and 2-rail O scales. Two sets fill 30x50 square foot areas in the building.

In 2010 open houses will be held Jan. 2, 3, 9, 10, 23, 24, 30 and 31 from 1 to 5 p.m.
