Agriculture is topic of next Schemel town hall
Rep. Paul Schemel (R-Franklin) would like to remind residents that he is hosting a town hall meeting this week on agricultural policy and issues. The meeting is scheduled to take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 21, in the Quincy Township Building, 7575 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro.
“Agriculture is Pennsylvania’s No. 1 industry and provides nearly 500,000 jobs,” said Schemel.
“Farming has always played an important role in our local economy and I thought discussing the current issues the industry faces would make for an informative town hall.”
The April event is the second in a series of town hall meetings Schemel plans to hold in the coming months on a variety of issues. The schedule is as follows:
• State Budget Update, Thursday, July 7, 6:30 p.m., Greencastle Borough Hall, 60 N. Washington St., Greencastle.
• School Consolidation, Thursday, Aug. 18, 6:30 p.m., Alexander Hamilton Free Library, 45 E. Main St., Waynesboro.
• Public Employee Pension Reform, Thursday, Sept. 15, 6:30 p.m., Washington Township Board Room, 13013 Welty Road, Waynesboro.
