Sen. Eichelberger to Talk Budget Hearings at Franklin County Town Hall

HOLLIDAYSBURG (February 25, 2016) – Following nearly two weeks of budget hearings at the Capitol, Senator John H. Eichelberger, Jr. (R-Blair) will provide an update to folks at his Franklin County Town Hall Meeting.

“At this time, these proceedings may very well be the most important budget hearings in the history of the Commonwealth,” said Senator Eichelberger.  “Folks in Franklin County need to understand the fallacies of the Governor’s proposed budget and the negative impact it would have on our state’s economy.”

A member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Eichelberger has actively participated in each hearing.  By the time of the town hall, he’ll have asked pointed questions to representatives of nearly twenty state departments and agencies.

“As always, I’m focused on protecting the taxpayers.  So, each department and agency has to be able to justify why they deserve the money the governor has proposed.  But, before I would even consider their funding levels, I want to know what they’re doing to operate more efficiently, reduce costs, and eliminate wasteful spending,” said Senator Eichelberger.

The open, informal forum is part of the Senator’s effort to make state government accessible for all people in the 30th District.
