Greencastle Shopkeepers going ahead with weekend event, First Friday cancelled

Greencastle's final First Friday for the season will be cancelled due to impending weather concerns, according to organizers.  

The Greencastle Shopkeepers Annual Special Events Day, Saturday, Oct. 3, will still kickoff   from 5 to 8 Friday evening, Oct. 2, in Greencastle. Look for the banner on Center Square  Friday evening for a map and locations. This shopping event will be filled with activities, discounts, door prizes and refreshments. All participating shops will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3.

With any purchase a coupon book can be obtained from one of the seven shopkeepers. In addition to the discount coupons, the book includes one ticket for a grand prize drawing worth $140 in purchases. All promotions in the coupon book are valid for two weeks, and expire at close of business on Oct. 17.

Crown Vetch will offer 20 percent off storewide and 10 percent off all furniture. Owner Lynn Caffarelli will be sharing decorating tips.

Inner Beauty is offering 20 percent off one new fall item, excluding Brighton, scarves, purses and jewelry. Sip cider and nibble gingersnaps while shopping for the perfect outfit with the help of JoAnn Eyer, owner.

Joyful Arts Studio will be offering wine glass painting from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, and 10 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. The make-it take-it wine glass painting cost is $8 for one glass and $15 for a pair. No preregistration is required. Susan Shaffer, owner, will include a long stem rose with every purchase. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Enter to win a $25 gift certificate.

Penny Lane will offer 20 percent off one item excluding soaps and lotions. Owner Tracey Ziadeh will be explaining her soap and lotion making processes.

the shop will welcome you with tasty treats and a chance to enter the drawing for a $40 gift certificate. Shopkeeper Chris Johnston will have you choose a leaf to determine your discount ranging from 5 percent to 40 percent on one item.

The Travelers Trunk, owned by Carole Malin, will let patrons pick a free pumpkin to keep and determine the discount from 5 percent to 30 percent off one item. Enter to win a $25 gift certificate.

All customers will receive a free pumpkin on Saturday.

Ruth Mowen and her staff at upScale Consignment will offer 10 percent off any one item not on sale and a drawing for a $20 gift certificate.
