The debut substitute job fair last year was a success, so Greencastle-Antrim School District is hosting another. It will be held Thursday, July 16 at the elementary school cafeteria from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Companies supplying outsourced staff will also be present.

“We have invited Metz, which handles our buildings and grounds employees, and the seven main bus contractors, too,” said director of human resources Tina Clever. “Also Source4Teachers.”

G-ASD will be looking for cafeteria workers, van drivers, bus aides, classroom aides, nurses, LPNs, noontime aides, and traffic control. Those positions are on the school payroll.

The contractors will be screening for custodians, indoor and outdoor maintenance, and substitute teachers. The latter is defined as filling in on day to day vacancies, up to 45 days in a row. When the district knows a spot will be open for 46 or more days, it hires the substitute teacher directly.

Last year approximately 65 job seekers attended the fair.

“I was very pleased,” said Clever. “We got good subs and have hired some of them as regular employees.”

Anyone interested in working in the school system can apply online at under Human Resources, and bring the completed form to the fair. Applications will also be available onsite. People should also bring their resume’. Members of the administrative team will take shifts for on-the-spot interviews.

“We’re trying to make it as easy as possible,” Clever said.

She stated the job opportunities were ideal for anyone wanting to work within the confines of a school day, and have the flexibility to say yes or no to a call to sub based on their own schedule.
