Rescue Hose Co. Fireman’s carnival offers entertainment all week

On the heels of Sidewalk Days the Rescue Hose Co. No. 1 Fireman’s Carnival is ready to go on the grounds of the Special Events Center at 407 S. Washington St. Opening Monday and running through Saturday, July 14 to 18, there will be nightly music, food, games and rides.

The Rescue Hose Co. No. 1 Fireman’s Carnival opens Monday, and is filled with music, food, games and rides through Saturday. The Special Events Center at 407 S. Washington St. is again the site of the annual fundraiser for the fire department.

The nightly menu includes HOCO burgers, pulled pork BBQ, hot and Italian sausages, country ham, pork tenderloin, homemade soup, French fries, hogtails, ice cream and more. Meals may be eaten in the dining hall, and many of the items are also for sale outdoors. On Monday evening the popular deal is buy one HOCO burger, get one free.

Free concerts will be held on the Antrim Way Honda stage. The public should bring lawn chairs, and sit through one or both sets of music, at 7:15 and 9:15 p.m.

The lineup is: Monday, July 14 - The Hello Strangers, original roots of rock and Americana. Tuesday, July 15 - Smokin’ Gunnz, great Southern rock done right. Wednesday, July 16 - Karaoke with 17 and under at 7:15, and adults at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, July 17 - Chris Woodward and Shindiggin’, as they say, get yer shindig on. Friday, July 18 - The Reagan Years, America’s premier 80s tribute band. Saturday, July 19 - Rudy & the Bluefish, blues with a feelin.

The RHC offers cash bingo every night. All carnival rides are covered with a $20 bracelet, and $1 each on Friday and Saturday night.

People are asked to donate baked goods and fruit, which are used as prizes for a midway game. Bring to the Special Events Center after 2 p.m. each day, or call 597-3037 for delivery arrangements.
