Changes are visible every day at the Sheetz construction site at exit 3. A new traffic signal is also going up to the left to facilitate motorists coming and going from I-81. Sheetz is located in Antrim Commons Business Park.

The third Sheetz store in Greencastle is rapidly rising from vacant land at Antrim Commons Business Park. The company broke ground late spring at exit 3.

Ryan Sheetz, director of brand, said no completion date was set. Sheetz, Inc. typically hired 35 to 40 employees with each new opening, he said. While he was not aware of the exact features of the latest store, modern amenities tended to include additional seating, a drive-thru, larger bathrooms, and greater selections of food and merchandise.

“It depends on the specific site layout,” Sheetz said. “Our engineers are very talented.”

The oldest and smallest Greencastle Sheetz gas station/convenience store is at 215 W. Baltimore St. The second is at 11104 Grindstone Hill Road. It opened in November 2010.

Whether the company would close the downtown store was not known. Sheetz could not comment.

“No decision has been made on that. We have to wait and see the impact of the new one,” he stated.

Sheetz, Inc., headquartered in Altoona, has nearly 470 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina and Ohio. It was founded in 1962.
