Heritage Estates West gets going

After seven years, Heritage Estates West developer Tom Mongold is ready to start building houses. He appeared before the Antrim Township Board of Supervisors Feb. 26 with an exemption request. He had obtained a $355,000 bond but the township required $378,000, which covered prevailing wage.

Zoning officer Sylvia House supported letting him start construction anyway, since his financing was within the leeway allowed by law. Solicitor John Lisko agreed the numbers were close, and Antrim already held a mortgage on the property, so it was protected if the project stalled or fell through.

Supervisors Fred Young III, Pat Heraty, Rick Baer and John Alleman voted in the affirmative. James Byers was absent.

In other business, the board accepted the resignation of Mike Montedoro from the Park Committee. Administrator Brad Graham reported that more property owners were paying their delinquent sewer bills to avoid going to court. The township had also distributed packets on operating the park concession stand to three potential vendors.
