Church buys bank building

The for sale sign didn't stay up long at the former Susquehanna Bank building.

The vacant Susquehanna Bank building at 35 N. Carlisle St. has been sold to Life Center Church, 145 E. Baltimore St. A bank spokesman said the sale was finalized Jan. 31. Adjacent properties, currently parking lots, went along with the transaction.

Church pastor Cathy Pence, who serves with her husband Dave, said the new facility offered much more space for fellowship activities. They planned to put in a small cafe for people attending their events.

When the Pences started the church in February 2010, they leased the Baltimore Street building (formerly Trinity Lutheran Church) from Matthew Gagnon, Baltimore. Pence said he had received interest from potential renters and buyers.

Wertime and Guyer LLP, Attorneys at Law, rent space to the rear of the Carlisle Street building, and the lawyers said their offices will remain at the location.
