Sticker shock greeted passersby over the weekend, as the sign at Sheetz, 215 W. Baltimore St., temporarily sported eye-popping prices. Later the numbers were removed from the 87 and 89 grades, leaving no price per gallon.

On Monday afternoon, the gas station ran out of Super 92. Sheetz public relations manager Monica Jones said Hurricane Sandy affected supply. Jersey Shore refineries serving oil lines in Pennsylvania had been shut down during the storm. Though back in operation, fuel delivery was in a catch-up mode.

Fifty Sheetz stores in the eastern third of the state, including most of those in Franklin County, were affected by the shortage. Jones expected full service to return Tuesday, since Carlisle outlets received deliveries on Monday. She said inside store sales were still doing well, as people continued to buy their food, beverages and coffee.
