The model home for Admar Custom Homes on Shannon Drive South is for sale. The 4,578 square-foot house on .35 acres is listed with a local realtor for $575,000.

The effect of the recession is making itself apparent to local governing bodies. Construction remains slow in Greencastle and Antrim Township. Greencastle Area Franklin County Water Authority noted Monday night it had no applications for water service, though typically there were one or two. In Greencastle, progress at Heritage Estates West has stopped as the developer works on funding for infrastructure improvements.

In Antrim Township, developers routinely ask for extensions on their projects, in order to keep them alive on the books while not starting new homes or commercial buildings. The request is often for 180 days. From October through December extensions were granted to Antrim Meadows Phase 2A on Williamsport Pike, WCN Properties on Hykes Road, Stonebridge Farms on Stonebridge Road, Century Commercial Park on Molly Pitcher Highway, Marcreek Farms on Worleytown Road, and Greens of Greencastle Phase 6 on Castlegreen Drive. Artery Homes on Buchanan Trail West has asked the township for permission to sell off lots to other parties.

Officials have said they hope things turn around soon, but the immediate future did not look promising.

The Fairways at Greencastle Greens is one phase of a project which will have hundreds of homes on completion. Spec homes are for sale and no new visible construction has been initiated.
