Family Wellness Fair is Saturday in Greencastle

Noel Fridgen and Frank Ervin represent the sponsors of the Family Wellness Fair scheduled for Saturday. The Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce and Carl's Drug backed the fair, which will feature 30 vendors with an interest in promoting good health. The event is free and the public is invited.

The first ever Family Wellness Fair will be in Greencastle on Saturday, sponsored by the Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce and Carl’s Drug. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13 at the Rescue Hose Company Special Events Center, 407 S. Washington St.

Thirty vendors from the area will be present to share information related to health and living well. They represent businesses and organizations involved in fitness, diet, senior programs, medical care and emergency services.

Noel Fridgen, summer intern at the chamber, organized the event.

“We thought this would be of value to the community, as a way for people to get to know how many different health care providers there are locally,” she said. “It also gives those providers a way to connect with the public and promote their services.”

Frank Irvin, owner of Carl’s Drug, signed on as a sponsor “because Noel asked me.”

He then added, “It’s a community effort and we support the community.”

Visitors may get free blood pressure readings, find out their body mass index and get a massage. The vendors will distribute pamphlets, answer questions about their services, and pass out samples, including bags, calendars, fans, yogurt dip and more.

Support groups will share their purposes and meeting dates.
