Great Valu stores donated a total of $10,000 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation in October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness.  To raise these funds, independently-owned Great Valu stores from Pennsylvania to North Carolina offered special, reusable grocery bags exclusively designed for this program.  Shoppers purchased the bags for $1.99 each, with $1 of the purchase price going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

According to Dean Martin, owner of Sunnyway Great Valu in Greencastle, “This is a great way to support breast cancer awareness and research. It is certainly one of the most popular promotions we've done this year. And it helps the environment at the same time.”

Store locations throughout the mid-Atlantic sold out of the colorful bags, showing the incredible level of support Great Valu shoppers give this important cause.
