GREENCASTLE — They say when two rivals get together you can throw the records out the window. That was the case Tuesday evening when James Buchanan and Greencastle-Antrim got together for a Mid-Penn Colonial Division boys' basketball game.

G-A earned its third win of the season, rallying to upset James Buchanan 55-51.

The first quarter was intense with a lot of back-and-forth action and even a few technical fouls were called. Caden Stoner paced JB with eight quick points and the Rockets led 17-15 after the first quarter.

Justin Hissong took over the second quarter for the Rockets, leading all scorers in the first half with 15 points, helping JB build a 34-25 halftime lead. Zach Cole kept the Blue Devils in it with 10 points to lead Greencastle in the first half.

Both teams started the second half sloppy with a lot of fouls being called in the third. Again Cole kept Greencastle in the game by scoring seven of the Blue Devils' 12 third-quarter points.

With JB leading 45-37 to start the fourth, five quick Blue Devil points cut the Rockets lead to three with 6:50 to play. Another Cole bucket cut the lead to one at 47-46, before Adam Murr finally gave Greencastle its first lead at 50-49 with 2:11 to play when he sank two free throws.

After a JB basket gave the Rockets the lead again, Adam Root drained a trey to give Greencastle the lead for good at 53-51. Root then put the finishing touches on things but adding a layup and giving the Blue Devils a well-earned victory, 55-51.

Cole led the Blue Devils with 21 points and Root added 12.

"Very nice win here this evening, very proud of our kids, they have lost some very close games this year so it was good to see them pull one out tonight," G-A head coach Rick Lewis said.

Greencastle improves to 3-17 while James Buchanan finishes the regular season 11-11.

The Blue Devils return to action Wednesday at Gettysburg.
