GREENCASTLE – A fast start propelled Greencastle-Antrim to a 39-27 girls' basketball victory over James Buchanan Friday night.

The Blue Devils (9-3) jumped out to a 16-4 lead by the end of the first quarter, paced by freshman Mia Libby. Despite a quiet second frame, Greencastle responded in the third to push its margin to 34-20, essentially putting the game out of reach heading to the fourth.

With the win, G-A improved to 5-1 in Mid-Penn Colonial Division play, taking a half-game lead atop the league standings. Shippensburg, which is 4-1 in the Colonial, did not play Friday.

Libby continued to impress in the early stages of her varsity career, scoring a game-high 15 points for the Blue Devils. Earlier this week, Libby netted 20 points against Everett, emerging as a versatile threat.

Sayge Wilhide joined Libby in double figures with 12 points followed by five from Lauren Pool.

Aside from the early burst, the deciding stretch came in the third quarter when JB was still hanging around. Wilhide knocked down a pair of 3's before Libby connected from beyond the arc, ending a shooting drought and extending the margin to 14.

McKenna Rakaczewski had a nice night defensively for the Blue Devils, shadowing JB's leading scorer MacKenzie Stoner.

Carly Sollenberger finished with a team-hight nine points for the Rockets.

G-A returns to action at Northern York on Tuesday.
