Greencastle-Antrim defeats Hershey 3-1

GREENCASTLE — The Greencastle-Antrim varsity girls' volleyball team took care of visiting Hershey on Tuesday, winning their Mid-Penn Keystone Division match 3-1.

The Blue Devils won the first two sets 25-17 and 25-21, lost the third set 25-19 and clinched the win with a 25-12 win in the fourth set.

Baylee Schaeffer led at the net with 13 kills. Mackenzi Branchman and Lauren Pool each had four kills. Schaeffer also had a team-best 12 digs, while Sarah Wink wasn't far behind with 10 digs. McKenzie Shatzer put up 22 set assists.

G-A won the junior varsity match in two sets, 25-20, 25-20. Kate Furnish recorded four service aces, two kills and four digs. Olalla Sanchez had three aces, three kills and three digs. Gracie Trobaugh added four kills and two aces.

FIELD HOCKEY

Blue Devils beat CD East 5-0

GREENCASTLE — Five different players scored for the Greencastle-Antrim varsity field hockey team during Tuesday's 5-0 victory over Central Dauphin East.

Four goals came in the second half to break open a close game.

Madison Bemisderfer snapped a scoreless tie with a goal with 5:01 to play in the first half. Abbi Cunningham was credited with the assist.

Cunningham scored Greencastle's second goal 2:04 into the second half, assisted by Taylor Appenzellar.

Micaela Dougherty scored a little over three minutes later with an assist from Bella Facchina. Facchina scored to make it 4-0 on an unassisted goal, and Dougherty assisted Kaitlin Measell on the fifth goal with 1:07 left in the game.

Greencastle-Antrim defeats Waynesboro 3-0

GREENCASTLE — Micaela Dougherty and Kaitlin Measell each scored a goal and had an assist to help the Greencastle-Antrim varsity field hockey team defeat Waynesboro, 3-0 on Monday in Mid-Penn Colonial Division play.

Measell got the game's first goal 10:27 into the first half, assisted by Dougherty.

Later in the half, Abbi Cunningham found the back of the cage at the 16:46 mark. Bella Facchina was credited with the assist. Dougherty scored the finale, with Measell picking up the assist with 8:20 remaining in the half.

Greencastle outshot Waynesboro 18-0 and had a 15-7 advantage in penalty corners.
