Frances May Wolford, 95, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 with family by her side. Born in Zullinger, PA, she was the loving widow of Chester "Chet" Wolford. Frances graduated from the Washington Township High School Class of 1945.

Frances and Chester were married in 1945 in Hagerstown, Maryland. They traveled to many countries and islands and had a wonderful life together.

She was the family matriarch, dedicated to her family, but also to her community, neighbors, and friends. She worked at Pealer's Florists and Harrisburg Auto Auction. She was very generous with her time and was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Red Hat Society, American Legion Post 109, and VFW POST 7530, a volunteer at Meals on Wheels, and a mentor at Filbert Street Elementary School.

Frances and Chester settled in New Cumberland, PA where they raised a family, eventually residing in Mechanicsburg, PA, Ocean City and Linwood, NJ, and Lake Placid, FL. Most recently, Frances lived in Ocean Pines, MD with her daughter Kathy and son-in-law Ronald Toth.

She was preceded in death by her father Charles and mother Hazel, stepmother Estelle, sister Anabelle Izer, and brothers Robert, Charles, and Fred. She was the last of her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen D. Wolford of Philadelphia, PA, Kathy Wolford Witmer Toth of Ocean Pines, Maryland; two grandchildren, Dr. Alison Thir of Huntingtown, MD, Corey Witmer of New York, NY; and seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Conner, Robbie, Mattie, Joey, Violet, and Eleanor.

Frances's children, Karen and Kathy will host a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, May 24 from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Malpezzi Funeral Home, 8 Market Plaza Way, Mechanicsburg, PA. Burial will take place privately at Rolling Green Cemetery. The family will also be receiving friends that afternoon at a memorial reception to be held at West Shore Elks, 108 N. Saint Johns Road Camp Hill, PA 17011 at 1:00 PM.
