Della Marie (Lumm) Boschert, 85, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 4, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. Born Thursday, July 8, 1937 in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles M. Lumm and the late Selma M. (Chafin) Lumm. Della graduate from Hagerstown High School in 1955. She worked at Chatkins Pharmacy and ran the snack bar. In 1984 she and her husband bought and operated Beck and Benedict Hardware Store in Waynesboro, PA until their retirement in 2020. She was the greeter and organizer of the Olde Tyme Friday Night Jams at the hardware store. She enjoyed attending the plays with her sisters and friends at the Potomac Playmakers Theatre, her knitting group, reading novels, and being part of the Bluegrass Community. Della was the back bone of her family with all activities including motorcycle racing. She was a member of the Antietam Motorcycle Club and St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was a firm believer in Angels and you would never see her without wearing one. She is survived by her sons, Bill Boschert, Mark Boschert and wife Donna, and Tom Boschert; grandchildren, Will, Chris, Brandon, Kate, Courtney, Bethany, Hope, Hannah; five great grandchildren; brothers, Eddie Lumm and wife Lois, Marty Lumm and wife Vicki; sisters, Peggy Morgan and husband Wes, Julia Harrison and husband Jeff; sister in law, Evelyn Quinn and husband Tom, brother in laws, Paul Peloquin and Richard Trump. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Richard L. Boschert; sisters, Nancy Russell, Roxanna Trump, and sister in law, Virginia Peloquin. Family will receive friends at the funeral home, Tuesday, May 9, 2023, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. A Catholic service will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 10:00 am, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North Hagerstown, MD, with the Rev. Ernest Cibelli officiating. A Celebration of Life with an open Bluegrass Jam will be held following the service at the Maugansville Ruritan Club from 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 1710 Underpass Way, Suite 300, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
