Mr. Jon K. “Kirk” Verdier, 67, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Waynesboro, PA passed away Friday, April 21, 2023, in his home.
Born January 9, 1956 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Ralph M. Verdier, Jr. and Helen (Diffenderfer) Verdier.
Kirk graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1974.
He and his wife of over 35 years, Betty (Flora) Verdier, were married on March 18, 1988, in Hagerstown, MD.
Kirk had multiple employers which included Har-Tru Tennis Courts, Asplundh Tree Service, Manitowoc Cranes and most recently, BJ’s Wholesale Club, which was a “hobby” to pass the time.
He was an avid golfer that enjoyed all yardwork, cooking, shooting pool, and Washington Redskins football.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Kristina Shaffer of Orrstown, PA and Jason Flora of Philadelphia, PA; six grandchildren, Mikayla Shaffer-Betz, Austin Betz, Ryland Betz, Brady Betz, Mia Shaffer and Zaiden Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Ena Verdier and Bertie Martin, both of Chambersburg; his nephew, James E. Martin of Rochester, NY; and his cousin, James Bard of Florida.
He was the last of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by one brother, Ralph M. Verdier, III and one aunt, Jayne Bard.
Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to thank the staff of SpiriTrust Lutheran Hospice for their care and kindness over the past two weeks.
