Richard F. “Rich” Reeder, age 81, of Greencastle, PA, passed away at his home on Thursday, March 9, 2023. Born January 7, 1942, in Greencastle, PA he was the son of the late Fred and Hattie Custer Reeder.
Mr. Reeder worked as a painter for J.J. Smith for 30 years, retiring in 1985; he went on to operate his own painting and wall papering business until he retired in 2008. He was a member of the Sportsman’s Association, VFW, and American Legion all in Greencastle, PA. He was also a member of the Mercersburg Moose. Rich enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating at Raystown Lake, mushroom hunting, and restoring furniture.
Surviving is his wife of 34 years, Carole Miller Reeder, whom he married on January 6, 1989, a daughter, Nicolette “Nicki” Reeder Reasner; two step-sons, Scott Statler (wife Kelli) and Brian Statler; three grandchildren, Zachary Reasner, Andria Statler Price, and Devin Statler; five great-grandchildren, Kaira Suders, Carter Price, Spencer Statler, Sterling Statler, Steele Statler; and four siblings, Josephine Mowen, Robert, Donald, and Ronald Reeder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Ashlee Reasner and eleven siblings.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle, where Pastor Fred Keener will officiate.
