Mrs. Betty June (Diehl) Fisher, 95, of Greencastle, PA, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023 at her home.

Born November 21, 1927 in Shady Grove, PA she was the daughter of the late William A. and Lottie F. (Henneberger) Diehl. She was a lifelong resident of the Shady Grove and Greencastle area.

Following her graduation from Greencastle High School with the Class of 1945, Mrs. Fisher attended Frederick Beauty School in Harrisburg, PA.

She married Fred “Ike” Fisher on April 15, 1950. They enjoyed 63 years together before Ike passed away February 7, 2014.

As a young lady she worked for the Kattie Kline Beauty Shop for four years, and then at Letterkenny Army Depot for three years. After raising her family, she worked in quality control at Grove World Wide for 23 and a half years, retiring in 1991.

She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Greencastle; Waynesboro Country Club; Greencastle Lioness Club where she served as president from 1993 until 1994, and Curly Q’s Square Dance Club. She enjoyed square dancing and played cards in several card clubs. She played in a card club group with some of the same ladies for 70 years! She also loved to cook and bake and shared her delicious pies and soups with others.

She is survived by her three daughters: Kimberly Burger and her husband Larry of Shady Grove, Kathy Wertner and her husband James, of Greencastle, and Kelly Cooper and her husband Michael of Greencastle; four grandchildren, Scott Cordell, Elizabeth Wertner, Megan Wertner and Andrew Wertner; three great-granddaughters, and one great-grandson; two step-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Catherine Carman, Martha “Sam” Smith, M. Marie Conrad, and Frances Mae “Pickle” Diehl, and a brother William A. Diehl.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, in Grace United Church of Christ, 128 E. Baltimore Street, Greencastle with Rev. Carol Kipe officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle, is handling the arrangements.
