Mary Jane Spoonire was welcomed to her heavenly home on December 3, 2022. She was born on December 21, 1955 as a daughter to Allen Strite of Clear Spring, MD and the late Anna Mae Strite. Our hearts are broken here on earth, but we know that God has welcomed "Nanny" with open arms and she is cheering us on from the best seat in the clouds. Nearly everyone knows her as" Sister Mary", due to her 30 years as a School Teacher at Huyetts Mennonite School. If you needed parenting she raised you, if you needed to eat she fed you, if you needed correction she wasn't afraid to give that either. She laughed with you and she cried with you, she encouraged you and she prayed for you. She was our North Star, a constant guiding light with experienced wisdom that we will carry for many years to come. Her favorite things to do were spending time with family, talking with friends, sending birthday cards, picking flowers for herself and others, reading her Bible and continually praying for everyone. She is survived by her husband Richard Spoonire Sr of Belleville, PA; a son, Richard Spoonire Jr of Hagerstown, MD; a daughter, Julia (Merle) Eby of Hagerstown, MD; a son, Jeffrey Spoonire of Greencastle, PA; and 10 grandchildren, Selena, Kimberly, Ryan, Christopher, Samantha, Samuel, Savannah, Anthony, Lane, McKenzie; a sister, Ruth Strite of Hagerstown, MD; 3 brothers, Mark (Martha Ann) Strite of Clear Spring, MD; Carl (Miriam) Strite of Harrisonburg, VA; Luke (Jean) Strite of Waynesboro, PA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Gateway Ministries 11017 Kemps Mill Road, Williamsport, MD on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at 10:00 AM. The family will receive visitors at Gateway Ministries on Monday, December 12, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Interment will be at the Mt. Olive Mennonite Church Cemetery in Maugansville, MD. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD.
