Dale Stanley Gamby, 88, of Cookeville, Tennessee, and formerly of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, passed from this life Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Charter Senior Living, Cookeville, Tennessee.
Dale was born March 30, 1934 in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania to the late Stanley V. and Lena G. Gamby. He worked for and retired from Mack Trucks in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Dale graduated from Greencastle Antrim High School in 1952 and married the late Anna May Gamby (Cauffman) the following year. They were married close to 68 years before Anna’s passing in March of 2021.
Dale was a loving father and grandfather. Dale and his wife Anna enjoyed traveling, especially by Harley, visiting 49 states and all the provinces in Canada, including a motorcycle trip to the Arctic Circle. Throughout his life he had many hobbies including fishing, hunting and reloading. Dale was an active member of the Putnam County Rod & Gun Club. He was always up for a road trip, especially a visit to Gamby Gardens at the Cookeville Farmers Market. Dale never knew a stranger and enjoyed talking to everyone he encountered.
Dale is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Verne Nicholas and Vicki J. Gamby, of Cookeville, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Cole and wife Dana Gamby of Clarkrange, Tennessee and Benjamin Gamby and partner Wesley Adkins of Cookeville, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, father and wife, Dale was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Gamby.
Dale had chosen cremation. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to a charity of your choice.
