John J. Gallagher Jr. passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 7, 2019, in Goldsboro, N.C. He was 69. Born in Philadelphia on Aug. 27, 1949, he was the son of the late John J. and Florence (Lynch) Gallagher. John was a resident of Levittown for 30 years before moving his family to Georgia. He was a 1967 graduate of Bishop Egan High School. He served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant from 1968 to 1971 and was in the Military Police. John was an OTR truck driver for the U.S. government until his retirement. He loved Philadelphia and all it represents. Our family roots, it's history, sports teams, food and fond memories of weekly doo wop dances. John is survived by his devoted wife, Rebecca Ann (Best), with whom he resided in Goldsboro, N.C. He will be sadly missed by his children, Maureen, Jimmy, Suzanne (Baker Nelson), and Michelle, and by the mother of his children, Susan (Rooney) Pritchett. He was the beloved brother of Denise (North Busby), Gerry (Ann), Claire (Chuck Brown), Sheila (Gallagher Siegman), Kevin (Chris), and his lifelong friend/"brother," John Andrews. He was revered by numerous nieces and nephews. John was the very proud Grandpop to Liam, Veronica, Declan, Riley, Piper, Nathan, Sophia, Evie and Oliver, whom he loved dearly. His quick wit and wisdom will be missed by all. John's interment will be held privately at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro, N.C.
