The American Heart Association's 2019 Mason Dixon Heart Walk will be held on Sunday, Oct. 6, at Antrim Township Community Park, 12315 Grant Shook Road, Greencastle. Festivities begin at noon and the walk will step off at 1:30 p.m. The Heart Association is looking for workplaces, family and friends to participate,
Activities at this year’s Mason Dixon Heart Walk will include CPR demonstration, health information, healthy snacks and kids activities. The event will culminate with 1-mile or 3-mile walk around the paths of Antrim Township Community Park. Well-behaved leashed dogs are permitted to join their humans for the walk.
Walkers who raise a minimum of $100 will receive a Heart Walk T-shirt and the opportunity to earn additional prizes.
In addition, the association will join with Fulton County Medical Center to host the 2019 Fulton County Hike on Tuesday, Oct. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fulton County Medical Center, 214 Peach Orchard Road, McConnellsburg. The event had been set for August, but was rescheduled due to inclement weather.
The Fulton County Hike will include a walk around the grounds of Fulton County Medical Center, as well as information about nutrition and healthy living, snacks and additional activities.
The Heart Walk is part of the American Heart Association’s Healthy For Good movement to encourage sustainable healthy lifestyle changes. Money raised will support the American Heart Association’s lifesaving mission to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives through investments in heart disease and stroke research, health care quality improvement, advocacy, prevention and education.
