Excitement is building for the 40th triennial Old Home Week and at the March meeting of the OHW Association, President Andy Everetts noted there are only four more meetings before the Aug. 3 to 10 celebration.

The meeting kicked off with the presentation of a ceremonial check for $10,000 from Orrstown Bank as sponsor of the parade on Aug. 8. Other sponsors include Fun Fair, $3,500, Strait Steel, and for $750 each motorcycle show, American Legion; antique car show, Ganoe Paving; dog show, M&T Bank; and flower show, Greencastle-Antrim Lioness Club.

Sponsorships are still available for Music on the Square, $8,000, and Concerts in the Park, $3,000.

There is now an active phone number, 223-205-7361, for headquarters, Chairman Bob Johnston reported. He added headquarters will be located on the northwest corner of the Square in the Conn Building, as it has been since 2001. Arrangements have been made with Tracy Whitmoyer, whose business Growing with Music occupies the space, for its use during Old Home Week.

At it meeting on Monday, April 1, Greencastle Borough Council approved the myriad full and partial closures of Center Square and borough streets for OHW activities, as well as use of municipal resources as needed for the celebration.

Other updates at the OHW Association meeting included:

The alumni reunion will be held at Blue Heron on Friday, Aug. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m., giving people time to go to the fireworks afterward. Ticket prices and entertainment will be announced at the April 29 meeting. The bike races will be held Wednesday, Aug. 7, at 1:30 p.m. and another event such as a trail or road ride is being discussed. Greencastle's new all-girl Scout troop will be joining Boy Scouts selling food on the square. Menus will be expanded with french fries and fried chicken, thanks to use of the Rescue Hose Co. trailer, and organizers hope to have a lunch special of the day and ice cream. Weavers from colonial Williamsburg will be giving demonstrations at Allison-Antrim Museum on Thursday and Friday, and possibly on Wednesday. Casting for the pageant "Hometown Memories" will take place in May and anyone interested in singing in the pageant choir can sign up online at:
