Greencastle Borough Council is looking to fill a vacant seat after the resignation of Craig Myers, who has moved out of the borough, was accepted Monday evening.

"It has been a pleasure working with all of you over the course of my 15 years on Council," Myers wrote in his letter of resignation. "My prayers for all of you as you continue to push forward and support the citizens of the borough."

Applications, including a one-page resume, are being accepted for the seat through Friday, Jan. 25. Applicants must be registered voters who have lived in the borough for at least a year.

Council plans to fill the vacancy at its next meeting on Monday, Feb. 4. Candidates will be given a chance to introduce themselves and then council members and the mayor will ask them questions.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held in the meeting room at the Rescue Hose Co. on South Washington Street due to renovations at borough hall.

There also are vacancies on the Greencastle Shade Tree Commission and as chair of the vacancy board.

The shade tree commission "preserves and expands the urban canopy and is a vital part of the quality of living in the Borough of Greencastle," explained Eden Ratliff, borough manager.
