The Greencastle-Antrim High School varsity field hockey team raised $900 on Feb. 3 to help Emma Strait, a Greencastle-Antrim Middle School seventh-grader diagnosed with leukemia in January, and her family.

"My team and parents came to me asking if we could do something special to support one of our own hockey families," according to Coach Rebecca Rice.

A GAFH Booster Club officer contacted Sunnyway Foods and on Saturday, Feb. 3, team members stood outside the entrances of Sunnyway decked out in GAFH gear and with posters to raise awareness and support for Emma.

The posters had messages like "GAFH Players Stick Together" and "#EMMA STRONG."

In the three and a half hours they received $900 in donations.

"My assistant coach observed that every single person that walked through those doors gave money towards Emma," Rice said. "I am extremely proud of the selflessness of my team to rally around these girls and I love that we live in a community that pours out their kindness for such a deserving family."
