J. Larry Cocklin, 69, of Dillsburg, died Monday, May 24, 2010, at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown.
Born Sunday, April 13, 1941 in Carlisle, he was the son of Esther M. (McClure) Cocklin of Dillsburg and the late James A. Cocklin.
He was a life long resident of Dillsburg, having graduated from Northern High School, Class of 1959. He received an Associate Degree from Messiah College and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1962.
Mr. Cocklin was a second generation funeral director and joined the Cocklin Funeral Home as a partner in 1962 and later became the sole owner and president until his retirement in 2000.
He was the secretary for the Dillsburg Cemetery Association; served on the Dillsburg Borough Authority and served as its chairman from 1991-1995; was a member and past president of the Capital Area Funeral Directors Assoc.; and was a former president of the Citizens Hose Co. 1.
Mr. Cocklin was a life member of Christ Lutheran Church, having served on its council and building committee. He was a member of the Dillsburg Lions Club; a 48 year member of the Eureka Lodge #302 F&AM; and the Harrisburg Consistory and the Zembo Shrine.
He served his country in the US Army Reserve.
In addition to his wife of 46 years, Nancy J. (Martin) Cocklin, and mother, he is survived by daughters, Karen S. Tushek and her husband, Michael, of Gettysburg; Becky J. Cocklin of Dillsburg and Amy J. Cox and her husband, Michael, of Bel Air, Md.; sister, Donna J. Grove of Lemoyne; brother,  John A. Cocklin of Manalopan, N.J.; grandchildren, Joy and Hank Tushek and Xander Cox.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 28 at Christ Lutheran Church, 15 N. Filey's Road, Dillsburg, with the Revs. Debbie Mahady and Patrick Rooney officiating.
Burial will be in the Dillsburg Cemetery-Mountain Road with military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Monaghan Presbyterian Church, 1185 Gettysburg Pike, Dillsburg, with masonic services being held at 6 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to the service at Christ Lutheran Chuch. 
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 15 S. Filey's Rd., Dillsburg, PA 17019 or the American Heart Assoc., 4999 Louise Dr., Suite 104, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
