Irene E. (Hartman) Davis, 87, of 9A Edward Dr., Greencastle, died at 2:38 a.m. Sunday, June 13, 2010 in ManorCare Health Services of Chambersburg, where she had been a resident for the past several weeks.
Born Sept. 21, 1922 in Antrim Township, she was the daughter of the late Harry Benjamin and Florence (Stickel) Hartman.
She attended the Brown’s Mill School.
Mrs. Davis was employed at the former Stanley Co., Chambersburg.
She attended the Calvary Bible Church of Greencastle and was a former member of the Hollowell Brethren In Christ Church near Waynesboro.
Mrs. Davis enjoyed gardening, canning and being with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She and her husband, Richard T. "Dick" Davis, were married Dec. 18, 1943. He died Aug. 16, 1999.
She is survived by one daughter, Darlene S. (wife of Daniel) Reynolds, of Greencastle; one son, Gary R. (husband of Linda) Davis, of Greencastle; three brothers, Harry Hartman of Winchester, Va., Frank Hartman of Dayton, Md. and Herman Hartman of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; sister, Mildred H. Coulson of Double Oak, Texas; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Hartman.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 17, in Calvary Bible Church, 3845 Buchanan Trail West, Greencastle, with Pastor Richard Overcash officiating.
Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, and at the church one hour before the service Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Missions Fund of Calvary Bible Church, 3845 Buchanan Trail West, Greencastle, PA. 17225.
