Isaac William Helfrick, 90, of Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Sarasota, Fla., died June 15, 2010 in Mechanicsburg.
Born Dec. 6, 1919 in rural Franklin County, he was the son of the late Annie R. (Myers) Helfrick and Charles E. Helfrick.
He married Laura M. (Blosser) Helfrick Jan. 21, 1945 in Columbiana, Ohio. She died July 23, 1998.
Mr. Helfrick graduated from Messiah Academy. He attended Messiah College for one year.
He was a member of Brethren in Christ Church.
Throughout his life he had been a diesel mechanic, farmer and minister.
He is survived by four daughters, Dr. Norma H. Mateer (wife of Joe) of Middletown, Eileen F. Musser (wife of Glenn) of York; Miriam H. Heisey (wife of J. Ray) of Roxbury and Susan L. Geter (wife of Calvin) of Round Rock, Texas; four sons, Gerald O. Helfrick (husband of Cindy) of Fairbanks, Alaska, Eugene Helfrick (husband of Christine) of Myakka City, Fla., Joel A. Helfrick, (husband of Kathy) of Plant City, Fla.; William Helfrick of Fairbanks, Alaska; a sister, Bertha S. Lehman; three brothers, Samuel Helfrick, Robert Helfrick and John Helfrick; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters and 10 brothers.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 27 at Messiah Village Chapel, Mechanicsburg, with Pastor Ron Slabaugh officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. before the memorial service.
A graveside service will be at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in Montgomery Brethren in Christ Church Cemetery.
