OBITUARY: Phyllis E. (Buchanan) Shetter

Phyllis E. (Buchanan) Shetter, 75, of Chambersburg, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012 at home in Chambersburg.
Born Oct. 26, 1936 in Cearfoss, Md., she was the daughter of the late Daniel L. Buchanan and Anna (Angle) Buchanan.  
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Paul E. "Sonny" Shetter, Jr.
She attended school in Lemasters before beginning her career of 35 years as a seamstress  at the J. Schoeneman Company. After retiring from Stanley, she remained active completing light housework and chores for many dear friends and family until her passing.
She was a member of the Criders United Brethren Church and also frequently attended services at King Street United Brethren Church. While at Criders, she taught the nursery Sunday School class and helped with Vacation Bible School. Affectionately known as ‘Nan’ by her grandchildren, she attended countless musical concerts, sports competitions and 4-H events. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother enjoying cooking for her family and spending time at home.
 Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Cherie L. Sipes (wife of Gary) of Chambersburg; her son, Steven P. Shetter (husband of Lisa) of Woodstock, Va.; and three grandchildren, Garrett (husband of Stephanie) and Christa Sipes of Chambersburg and Austin K. Shetter of Mercersburg; siblings, Geraldine Witter (wife of Omar) of Greencastle, Thelma Buchanan of Greencastle, Harry Buchanan (husband of Romaine) of Mercersburg, Joan Zeger of Greencastle, Kenneth Buchanan (husband of Bonnie) of Greencastle, Aileen Reeder (wife of Robert) of Greencastle, Nancy Ebersole (wife of Lawrence) of Greencastle; and sister-in-law, Clara Ann Buchanan of Greencastle.
In addition to her husband, brothers Valance and Aden Buchanan preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30 at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Lester Stine will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29 at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
