Three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man whose body was found in Porter Township last year.
PA State Police at Blooming Grove arrested 46-year-old Jesus Rosario-Torres, Harrisburg on Monday, 34-year-old Dawn Marie Atwell, PenArgyl, on Tuesday and 33-year-old Joseph William Atwell, Graterford, on Wednesday for the murder of Norman Domenech.
Domenech’s body was found last year at the Bears Den Hunting and Fishing Club in Porter Township. Dr. Barbara Bollinger conducted an autopsy and determined the cause of death to be by shotgun, with gunshot wounds to the torso.
The arrests came after a 13-month investigate by the State Police.
According to court documents, Domenech was staying with Joseph Atwell and his wife Dawn in Easton. Domenech met Joseph Atwell while they were both in prison. Several weeks before Domenech’s body was found, Joseph Atwell had confronted the victim over money which he though Domenech had taken from Atwell’s children’s piggybank.
Atwell told police he knew Domenech had been stopped by State Police and had been driven to his residence along with his passenger after the victim’s truck had been impounded on May 29, 2007.
Police said Atwell could not give an explanation for his where abounds the remainder of the evening of May 29, 2007 after he returned home.
Atwell later told police he suspected Domenech had stolen $900 from his wife’s purse. Other witnesses noted the Atwell was mad believing Domenech had taken the money from his children’s bedroom.
After a search of the home, police found several guns including a shotgun and .380 pistol. According to published reports in June 2007, the Atwells were arrested on various charges relating to the guns and other items found in the home.
Jared Kocher later told police, he had been asked by Atwell to pick up Domenech and is passenger an Hispanic man called ChuCho, who was identified as Rosario-Torres. He said after he picked him them up he was installing surveillance cameras at about 3 am when Atwell got a pistol from a gun safe and something long wrapped in a blue jacket or towel. Kocher said the camera’s on the deck were working and he watch Atwell and ChuCho wake Domenech and leave in a Atwell’s Jeep. He said Atwell and ChuCho returned without Domenech three hours later.
Kocher’s girlfriend told she had seen Atwell and another man sawing off a shotgun on May 29, 2007. Atwell later asked to translate instructions through out the evening and morning to ChuCho who did not speak English. According to court documents, the instructions included directions on how to use the shotgun and the plan on how they were going to kill Domenech.
