Members of the court have been selected, Spirit Week will begin Monday, Oct. 1, and Greencastle-Antrim Homecoming festivities will be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 5 and 6.
The homecoming parade steps off Friday at 6 p.m. and the G-A Blue Devils will kickoff against the Big Spring Bulldogs at 7 p.m. The homecoming court will be presented at halftime.
Senior king and queen candidates are Collin Miller and Madalyn Hay, Ryan Marconi and Brianne Luger and Jason Freeman and Heidi Schanzenbacher. The court also includes ninth-graders Gavin Davidson and Morgan Hay, 10th-graders Thomas Burk and Caroline Poole and 11th-graders Seth Ryder and Hannah Ott.
Spirit week will feature — Monday: Country Day; Tuesday: Disco Day; Wednesday: Rock Day; Thursday: Island Day; and Friday: Blue and Gold Day.
The homecoming dance starts Saturday at 7 p.m.
Homecoming courtSenior Collin Miller is the son of Kevin and Holly Miller. Collin is a member of Tumani Ambassadors, Spanish National Honor Society, National Honor Society, choir, art club, student council, and peer tutoring. He plans to attend a university and pursue a doctor of pharmacy. While away at school, Collin hopes to travel abroad to learn more about other cultures while supporting humanitarian efforts. Once he’s secured a degree, he plans to return to his hometown to marry and start a family. Collin’s favorite quote is, “One day you’ll be just a memory for some people. Do your best to be a good one.” Senior Madalyn Hay is the daughter of Douglas and Darletta Hay. Madalyn is a member of art club, choir, student council, Tri-M, and National Honor Society. She plans to earn an undergraduate degree in biology, move to Germany to earn a doctorate, and travel the world pursuing zoological research. She wants to marry, but never settle down. Eventually, she hopes to open her own animal sanctuary. Her favorite quote is by Clarissa Estes, “When a great ship is in harbor and moored it is safe, there can be no doubt. But, that is not what great ships are built for.” Senior Ryan Marconi is the son of Keith and Cindy Marconi. Ryan participates in football, wrestling, and baseball. He is also a member of National Honor Society, peer leaders, student council, and Tumani Ambassadors. Ryan plans to attend The Citadel: The Military College of South Carolina and attain a degree in civil engineering. He wants to serve as an officer in the Navy, come back to Greencastle to start a family, and spoil his wife Sunday through Friday because Saturdays are for the boys. Ryan’s favorite quote by Coach Devin McCauley is, “Today is a great day to be alive, if you don’t believe me take a walk through the graveyard.” Senior Brianne Luger is the daughter of Brian and Cheryl Luger. Brianne participates in cheer and she is the co-captain of the volleyball team. She is also a member of student council, National Honor Society, Tumani Ambassadors, yearbook, science club, and The Crew. Brianne plans to attend Penn State University to obtain a degree with a major in nursing and minor in psychology. She hopes to marry her best friend who will take her on Chick-fil-A dates as they grow old together, have a beautiful family and a few dogs. Her favorite quote by Oscar Wilde is “You can never be overdressed or overeducated.” Senior Jason Freeman is the son of Sandra and John Freeman. Jason plays basketball, soccer, and baseball. He is also a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society. Jason plans to go to college to study mathematics. His favorite quote comes from Babe Ruth, “Yesterday’s home runs don’t win today’s games.” Senior Heidi Schanzenbacher is the daughter of Eric and Kathy Schanzenbacher. Heidi plays basketball and she is a member of student council, Young Life, and art club. She plans to go to college, get a degree, get married, and have a bunch of cute kids. Her favorite quote is “If you’re not first, you’re last." Junior Seth Ryder is the son of Jeremy and Melissa Mason. Seth plays football. He plans to go to college and obtain a degree in business administration. His favorite quote comes from Coach Devin McCauley, “It’s a great day to be alive.” Junior Hannah Ott is the daughter of Jason and Kelly Ott. Hannah participates in soccer and swimming. She is also a member of Young Life. She plans to attend college, get a stable job, and eventually start a family to travel with. Her favorite quote is “In this world you either crank that salsa boy or it cranks you.” Sophomore Thomas Burk is the son of Ronny and Dawn Burk. Thomas plays soccer and baseball, and he is a member of student council. He plans to graduate high school and college. His favorite quote from President Donald Trump is “Make America great again.” Sophomore Caroline Poole is the daughter of Larry and Susan Poole. Caroline plays volleyball and she is a member of Peer Leaders, Young Life, Campaigners, and The Crew. Caroline plans to graduate high school and then attend Liberty University with a major in education. Her favorite quote is “Always be a little kinder than necessary." Freshman Gavin Davidson is the son of Carter and Carley Davidson. Gavin is a member of the varsity soccer team and the science club. Outside of school, he plays baseball and he enjoys snowboarding. Gavin plans to become a doctor and to continue to stay active in baseball and soccer. His favorite quote comes from Albert Einstein, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it’s stupid.” Freshman Morgan Hay is the daughter of Richard and Kim Hay. Morgan plays soccer. She plans pursue a career in military intelligence and counterterrorism. Her favorite Scripture is, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity." 1 Timothy 4:12
