The American Heart Association is looking for workplaces, friends and families from across Franklin and Fulton counties in Pennsylvania and Washington County in Maryland to join the 2018 Mason Dixon Heart Walk. The walk will be held Sunday, Oct. 7, at Antrim Township Community Park, 12315 Grant Shook Road, Greencastle. Festivities begin at noon and the walk will step off at 1:30 p.m.
Activities at this year’s Heart Walk will include free CPR demonstrations and blood pressure screenings, healthy snacks and kids activities.
It will culminate with a 2.5-mile walk through the park.
Organizers have set a goal to raise $75,000. Funds raised at the Fulton County Hike, held Aug. 14 at Cowans Gap State Park, and the Shippensburg Heart Walk, set for Oct. 19 at Shippensburg University, will also contribute to the goal.
Walkers who raise a minimum of $100 will receive a Heart Walk T-shirt and the opportunity to earn additional prizes.
The Mason Dixon Heart Walk is chaired by Frank Cholewicki, vice president and chief financial officer of JLG Industries in Hagerstown, Maryland, and sponsored locally by JLG/Jerr-Dan, Meritus Medical Center, Citi, Patriot Federal Credit Union, Keystone Health, UPMC Pinnacle, Summit Health, Fulton County Medical Center and Volvo Construction Equipment.
The Heart Walk is part of the American Heart Association’s Healthy For Good movement to encourage sustainable healthy lifestyle changes.
