Mr. B. Robert Izer, 83, of Buchanan Trail East, Shady Grove, PA, died Monday evening, February 6, 2017, in his home.

Born March 27, 1933 in Greencastle, he was the son of the late G. Robert and Mabel (Landis) Izer. He was a lifelong resident of the Greencastle area.

Mr. Izer served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, spending most of his time stationed in Germany.

He and his wife of over 61 years, Jacqueline Z. (Zeger) Izer, were married on July 1, 1955 in Hagerstown, MD. They have lived on Buchanan Trail East since 1957.

Mr. Izer worked as an electrician for Doubleday Book Company, Smithsburg, MD, later Berryville Book Company, for many years. Following his retirement, he worked for Buchanan Automotive for many years.

He was a lifetime member of the Greencastle Sportsman's Association and was a member of the Shady Grove Ruritan Club and the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319, Greencastle. He also attended services at Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, Waynesboro.

Mr. Izer enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Douglas R. Izer and his wife, Rosemary of Greencastle and Alan A. Izer and his wife, Teresa of Greencastle; his son-in-law, Brian M. Wickersham of Richmond, VA; seven grandchildren, Daniel Izer and his wife, Kristen, David Izer and his wife, Jenelle, Jamie Wieder and her husband, Don, Emily Eshleman and her husband, Stefan, Alex Izer and his wife, Erica, William Wickersham, and Elizabeth Wickersham; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth Izer and his wife Sandy of Greencastle and Donald Izer and his wife, Truella of Zullinger, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Jodi I. Wickersham.

Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, February 10, 2017, in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington Street, Greencastle with Pastor Adam Meredith officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

There will be no public viewing, however the family will receive friends from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M., Friday morning, in the funeral home.
