Blaise-Alexander in Greencastle is about to become the largest in the network of 14 car dealerships in central Pennsylvania.

Greg Kennedy, a Greencastle local and manager for the Greencastle Blaise Alexander site, said, "We bought 14 acres down by Exit 3 and we're putting up a 65,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility which is going to house Chevrolet and Volvo ... it's huge, it's going to be the biggest (dealership) in the area period.

Blaise-Alexander has only been in the Greencastle area for about four years, its current location on North Antrim Way been a car dealership since the 1950s, first as Hicks Chevrolet then as Hicks Chevrolet Volvo. The future of the lot has not been decided.

Two of the biggest reasons for the expansion were to keep Blaise-Alexander a competitive dealer in the Greencastle area and to reinvest some of the businesses success looking to the future.

"Blaise-Alexander is a serious dealer and we wanted to see how things were going and they're going very, very well. We felt it was time to get a new facility and a bigger facility so that we can do even better," said Kennedy.

When the project is finished, the final result will be a two-story building with a Chevrolet showroom on one side, three service drive areas in the middle and a Volvo showroom on the other side . The facility will also have a total of 30 service bay. Upstairs areas will be office space, according to Kennedy.

Kennedy expects that the expansion will allow the dealership to triple to quadruple the number of vehicles available. The dealership is expected to open at 1378 Armada Drive in December 2017.

"It will be the largest store out of the 14 stores that we own ... we have 14 stores and we're always looking to acquire additional stores. I think what that means is once we get that store up and running in Greencastle we will probably end up buying some more franchises in and around that area," said Kennedy.

Blaise-Alexander has been in business since 1980. Other dealerships are located in places like State College, Lewisburg, Williamsport and Ephrata.
