Antrim secretary/ treasurer resigns Antrim Township Secretary Renee Perrin submitted her resignation to the Board of Supervisors Oct. 1. Her letter read "Due to the recent restructuring in Antrim Township, and the impact this action has brought to my position as Secretary/Treasurer, I find it necessary to resign my employment with Antrim Township, effective October 10, 2008." Perrin has worked for the township for 15 years. The organizational structure of Antrim's governing authority was changed on Aug. 21, the night the supervisors fired six top level employees based on an operations study conducted by Dhillon Management Services, Fullerton, Calif. The supervisors present and supporting the action were Samuel Miller, Rick Baer, Curtis Myers and Fred Young III. Dhillon recommended eliminating the positions of water plant operator, one pump station operator, utility billing clerk, administrative secretary, one zoning department person, one roads department person, and combine roadmaster, utilities director and utilities superintendent into one position. The board actually fired the township manager, utilities director, utilities superintendent, roadmaster, finance secretary and one person from the road crew. The supervisors then appointed two of themselves to interim positions: Young to interim administrator and Baer to interim roadmaster/utilities director, both with pay. Baer said the next week he would not accept a salary. On Sept. 26 the board changed Young's title to projects coordinator. The Board of Auditors has not yet set his salary as it researches legal issues concerning a supervisor in a paid staff position. Karen Lehman, parttime custodian for five years, resigned in late August. The supervisors hired Paul Minnich, a member of the road crew, as maintenance superintendent/ roadmaster on Sept. 9. The deadline for people applying for township administrator was Oct. 1. |
