Marian E. Heckman Marian E. Heckman, 77, of Mercersburg Road, Mercersburg, died at 3:50 p.m. Sept. 11, 2008 in the Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg. Born March 19, 1931 near Pinola, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Elizabeth Byers Horst. She had been employed for 32 years as a seamstress at the former Stanley Company, Chambersburg. Mrs. Heckman was co-owner of Light of Parnell Book Shop, Mercersburg. She had attended Maugansville Bible Brethren Church of Maugansville, Md. Mrs. Heckman was a member of Lemasters Community Center Auxiliary, Lemasters. In addition to her husband, Nathan O. Heckman, whom she married May 19, 1949, she is survived by two daughters, Sharon L. (Mrs. Michael) Shilling of Reading and Cheryl A. (Mrs. Paul) Mowen of Greencastle; two sons, Roger A. (husband of Nancy) Heckman of Houston, Texas and Wesley R. (husband of Karen) Heckman of Mercersburg; 10 grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Sue Heckman, who died Oct. 2, 1992; sisters, Thelma Baer, Elsie Mae Myers and Loueda Thomas; and a brother, B. Aden Horst. Services were held the morning of Monday, Sept. 15 in Brandt's Church of the Brethren, St. Thomas, with Rev. John C. Hoffman officiating. Burial was in Spring Grove Cemetery, Lemasters.
