Robert E. Strang

Robert E. Strang, 58, of 6828 Furnace Road, Waynesboro, died at 12:09 p.m., Monday, Aug. 25, 2008. Death was unexpected and was the result of an industrial accident at Nitterhouse Concrete, Chambersburg.

Born March 17, 1950, he was the son of Harry E. Strang of Fayetteville, and the late B. LaRue (Scott) Strang. He was a life long resident of the South Mountain, PA and Waynesboro areas.

Mr. Strang graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1969.

He served with the United States Marines.

He and his wife, Barbara J. (Wagaman) Strang, were married Oct. 21, 1978 in Wesley United Methodist Church, Mont Alto. They moved to their present residence in August 1979.

Mr. Strang worked for Knouse Foods as an orchard worker, Keystone Homes as a crew leader in the roofing department, Grove Worldwide as a fork lift operator and he was currently employed at Nitterhouse Concrete as an equipment operator for the past eight years.

He was a member of Eagles Club, Inc., Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1191, William Max McLaughlin V.F.W. Post 695 and Order of the Owls Nest 1073, all of Waynesboro, and the South Mountain Fish and Game Association.

Mr. Strang enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by one daughter, Brandy L. Baker of Mont Alto; one sister, Linda S. Kendall of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services were held the morning of Saturday, Aug. 30 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, with Rev. David L. Keener, officiating.

Burial followed in Strang's Cemetery, South Mountain.
