Girl Scouts stay busy with activities

Local Girl Scouts from the Antietam service unit of the Girl Scouts in the Heart of PA have been quite busy despite the cold, wintry weather.

Daisy Tropp 853 worked on the Daisy Promise Center and Petals. Activities included making Thanksgiving Day cards for the Walter Reed Hospital, caroling at Heritage Hills Nursing Home, visiting the Greencastle police station, making pinecone birdfeeders and completing the Daisies are Helpful books.

Daisy Troop 886 also worked on the Daisy Promise Center and Petals. The girls partnered with Heritage Hills for several activities and events, had a bonnet parade and Easter egg hunt, made treasure boxes and became penpals with a troop in Michigan.

Brownie Troop 793 earned the Listening to the Past, Manners, Cookies Count and Make It, Eat It try-its. The girls visited Browns Mill School, held a tea party at TranquiliTea and attended Thinking Day. They went Christmas caroling at Heritage Hills and donated cereal to the REACH Homeless Shelter.

Brownie Troop 924 earned the Cookies Count, Puppets, Dolls and Plays, Stitch It Together and Citizens Near and Far tryits. They also participated in the Antietam Thinking Day event and laser bowling.

Junior Troop 924 attended Thinking Day and laser bowling. The girls also camped at Happy Valley and went snow tubing. They earned the following badges: Cookie Biz, Toymaker and Frosty Fun.

Junior Troop 907 earned the World Neighbors and Healthy You badges and finished the Sign of the Star and Sign of the Rainbow. The troop learned about Japan and presented a display about it at Thinking Day.

The entire Antietam service unti had a great cookie sale thanks to the support of the community. This year's Gift of Caring project was once again supporting the soldiers by delivering cases of cookies to the Fisher House, the Mologne House and Walter Reed.
