Track and Field
The boys' and girls' track and field teams each traveled to Waynesboro for their first dual meet of the year. With two events remaining, the 3200 and the 1600 meter relay, the boys were knotted up 68-68. Waynesboro swept the 3200 which seemed to outweigh the Devils' win in the 1600 relay, and the Indians went on to win 76-74.
The Blue Devils swept the relays for the guys. Jai Courter, Joe Pasquarello, Jordan Bingaman, and Josh Phillips started the boys off with a win in the 3200 meter relay. Chris Lewis, Adam Ritchey, Dustin Barry and Mac Frederick did it in the 400 relay and Jesse Herman, Ritchey, Lewis and Frederick got it done in the 1600 relay.
Frederick also had two individual wins in the 200 and long jump including a personal best of 22.7 in the 200. Courter also set a personal best in the 1600 in 4:55.2, which was good enough to take first. Other top finishers include Evon Wiestling in the triple jump, Seth Group in the javelin and Jon Kirkpatrick in the pole vault.

Other point scorers were: Clinton Monn, second in the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles; Ritchey, second in 100 and high jump; Barry, third in 100; Herman, second in the 400; Wiestling, third in long jump; Phillips, second in the 800; Courter, third in the 800; and Andrew Cordell, third in the pole vault.
The girls hung tight for a while but fell 93-57 to the Maidens. Charmayne McFadden, Katie Lutz, Ariel Shuhart and Lindsay Bingaman took the 400 relay and Julia Stein, Lutz, Shuhart and Bingaman did it in the 1600 relay.
Rebecca Rider got a pair of wins in the 100 hurdles and the triple jump, while Katrina Wright took first in shot put and discus. Stein also got an individual win in the 300 hurdles.
Other point scorers were: Stein, second in 100 hurdles; McFadden, second in the 100 and third in the 200; Bingaman, second in the 400; Megan Blair, third in the 1600 and third in the 800; Mindy Stenger, third in triple jump; Rider third in high jump; Rachelle Piper, second in long jump and javelin; and Jennifer Baer, third in shot put.

Girls' Soccer
The Blue Devils held the Shippensburg attack off in the first half, but let up two second half goals as they fell 2-0 to Ship on Tuesday.
G-A's defense stood strong for the first half, and went into the half knotted at 0-0. However, Shippensburg snuck in two quick goals early in the second half. The first came just 35 seconds into the half and the second came four minutes later. The Devils struggled to score from behind but didn't allow any more goals and they fell by a final score of 2- 0.
The Devils got off just four total shots compared to Shippensburg's 20. Whitney Nave had a solid game in goal with 12 saves.
The junior varsity game was much of the same, as the Devils fell 2-0 to Shippensburg.
The Blue Devils picked up their first win of the season on Thursday with a 1-0 victory over Big Spring.
The first half went scoreless for both teams, but Randa Bingaman found the net at the 28:00 minute mark in the second half. Her goal was enough to lead the Devils to a 1-0 victory. The Devils out shot Big Spring 9-8 and Nave had four saves in goal.

In the junior varsity game, the Blue Devils were blanked 2-0 by Big Spring.
Baseball
The Devils cracked their losing streak by steamrolling Steel- High 12-0 to earn their first win of the season. Evan Dixon, Brett Meyers, and Joe Selitto were one hit away from a perfect game as they combined for a no-hitter in five innings.
Selitto brought in Trevor Ile for the first run on a sacrifice fly for the second out in the first. Cole Sellers followed with a single up to middle, bringing in Alex Izer. Drew Bittner was hit by a pitch next and Jared Doyle had an RBI single bringing in Sellers. Eric Schanzenbacher brought in Bittner with a single to right, and Andrew Cordell capped off the five run inning when Heath Ausherman brought him in.

Sellito got them going again in the second after two ground outs, when his shot to center went through the legs of the center fielder, allowing him to advance to second. Sellers drilled a two run homer next pushing the Devils up 7-0.
Bittner and Doyle were each walked and Bittner scored on another single from Schanzenbacher. Cordell finished the second inning rally as he came home when a pitch got past the catcher and G-A went up 9-0.
Brett Meyers pitched a perfect fourth inning and the offense added three more runs to make it 12-0. Selitto came in to finish things off in the fifth and the 12- 0 score became final.
Sellers led the Devils batting 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBIs, while Doyle also went 2- for-2 with three runs and two RBIs. Schanzenbacher was also 2-for-2 with two RBIs.
The Blue Devils needed just two innings on Thursday to run away with a 18-0 victory over Milton Hershey in Greencastle for their second division win.
Drew Bittner smacked a tworun single to start the scoring and Schanzenbacher brought in two more with a double over the head of the left fielder. He was brought home when DJ Cordell reached on an error. Ausherman walked and Ile made it 7-0 by bringing in Ausherman and Cordell. Alex Izer brought in two more runs with a double to left field, putting G-A up 9-0 after the first inning.
The Spartans brought in another pitcher, but the Devils knocked in nine more runs to end it after two. Bittner singled to right field and Brett Meyers was walked. Schanzenbacher followed with a double bringing in courtesy runner Cordell and Ile followed with a double to deep center bringing in two runs.
Grant Meyers was walked to load the bases for Evan Dixon. Dixon struck out leaving the bases loaded for Sellers. Sellers hammered a grand slam over the left field fence making it 17-0. DJ Cordell finished things off with an RBI single giving G-A the 18-0 lead after two.
Bittner did his work on the mound allowing just one hit in three innings. He also went 2- for-2 at the plate with two RBIs. Ile went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs, while Sellers smashed his third home run in three games. Schanzenbacher finished 2-for-2 with three RBIs and Izer was 2-for-2 with an RBI. DJ Cordell added two RBIs and Grant Meyers contributed with three runs.
Softball
The Blue Devils took advantage of a huge second inning as they cruised by Milton Hershey 21-0 on Thursday.
G-A was actually held scoreless in the first inning, but used a huge 16-run second inning to set the tone. The Spartans' starting pitcher lost control in the second inning She gave up just one hit in 1 1/3 innings but walked eight. The Devils tacked on five more runs against the relief pitcher in the third and ended this one early due to the mercy rule.
Autumn Appleby got the win, giving up just one hit and no walks, while striking out five
Rachel Statler led the Devils at the plate going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs. Kali Ball scored three runs to go along with her three RBIs, and Diamond Byers went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Chey Melius and Kayla Pond each drove in two runs, while Katy Bobbit and Roxanne DeWalt each had an RBI and scored three runs.
In the junior varsity game, the Blue Devils used three innings to get by Milton Hershey 18-3, improving their record to 4-0.
Dani Morgan and Marie Siefker each smacked two home runs and Carly Mowen had one of her own. The girls totaled 13 hits on the day including three from Ali Stouffer, Morgan and Mowen. Kacie Straley picked up the victory on the mound and Wendy Wolff got the save as they combined for a one-hitter.
Middle School
Track and Field
The middle school boys' and girls' track and field teams both hosted Faust on Monday. The girls took seven of the 12 events to win 60-40 as the boys struggled with just two first place finishes as they fell 65-35.
Dena Timmons took first in the 400 in her first time running it this year with a 1:05.7. Sarah Gipe took wins in the 800 and the 1600 for the Devils. Ashton Rockwell won the 100 hurdles and Jennifer Patton won shot put. The girls also took the 400 meter relay and the 1600 meter relay.
The Devils had several other contributions including: Timmons, second in the 200; Tache Smothers, second in long jump and third in the 200; Kortney Gipe, second in the 400 and the 800; Mary Ward, second in the 1600 and third in the 800; Jenna Lehman, third in the 1600; Patton, second in discus; Rockwell, second in high jump; and Lauren Durniak, third in high jump.
The boys only first place finishers were Taylor Kirkpatrick, who jumped 5-6 in the high jump, and Hunter Rawlings in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.8. However, the boys racked up several second and third place finishes.
Other point scorers include: Kirkpatrick, second in the 200 and third in the 100; Greg Boyer, second in the 400 and the 100 hurdles and third in the 200; Josh Spoonhour, second in the 800; Rawlings, second in long jump; Jeff Seilhammer, second in shot put and third in discus; and Ben Leitzel, second in discus and third in shot put.
Volleyball
The Blue Devils dropped their first match at home 2-0 to Faust by scores of 27-29 and 21- 25.
Jenna Crunkleton had two aces and two assists, and Rachel Kline also had two aces with one assist. Amanda Hammer had two kills, while Natalie Stein racked up an ace and a kill, and Whitney Shuck had an ace.
The junior varsity girls took a 2-0 victory over Faust with scores of 25-15 and 25-15. Hannah Lougheed served up 11 aces along with one kill. Miranda Sharp and Mallory Weller each recorded three aces.
Greencastle Antrim continued to serve up the aces as they won 25-14 and 25-12 over Big Spring on Thursday at Greencastle.
Crunkleton led the way with seven aces and five assists, while Brooke Strait chipped in with four aces and three kills. Ema Bobbit had seven digs to go along with her two aces.
The junior varsity girls also dropped Big Spring 2-0 with wins of 25-18 and 25-19.
Lougheed racked up 10 aces to go along with her one kill, while Nakita Gearhart had four kills and two aces.
