Betsy A. Fleagle

Betsy A. (Snowberger) Fleagle, 76, of 23 Homestead Drive, Greencastle, and formerly of 34 Twin Hill Drive, Waynesboro, died at 5:24 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2008 in Waynesboro Hospital following a brief illness.

Born Dec. 29, 1931 in Washington County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Dean and Thelma Werdebaugh of Pen Mar, Md. In August 1932, Betsy was adopted by Walter S. and Anna (Fox) Snowberger. Following the death of Anna in 1940, Mr. Snowberger later married Mrs. Virginia (Zimmerman) Snowberger, who then became Betsy's step-mother.

Mrs. Fleagle was a graduate of Waynesboro High School with the Class of 1950.

She and her husband of 56 years, Howard E. "Bing" Fleagle, were married Sept. 30, 1951 in Waynesboro Church of the Brethren. They lived at their Twin Hill Drive address for 47 years before moving to their current residence in 2003.

Mrs. Fleagle was employed as a telephone operator for a short time.

She was a member of Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, past member of Waynesboro Garden Club and past member of Y Gradale Sorority.

Mrs. Fleagle enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Beth Ann Nicholas of Stephens City, Va. and Paula Kay Scott of Centreville, Md.; one son, Stephen C. Fleagle of State College; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Michael L. Snowberger of Orrstown.

Services were held the morning of Friday, April 4 in Waynesboro Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Prudence B. Yelinek officiating.

Burial was in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

Memorial contributions may be made to Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 117 South Church Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268.

Arrangements were handled by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
