Mary N. Blue
Mary N. (Fortney) Blue, 91, of New Market, Va. and formerly of 6931 Rock Hill Road, Waynesboro, died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2008 in the Life Care Nursing Home, New Market.
Born Sept. 27, 1916 in Five Forks, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Mary E. (Peiffer) Fortney. She was a life long resident of the Waynesboro area, until moving to live with her daughter 10 years ago.
Mrs. Blue attended Quincy schools.
She and her husband, the late James Frederick Blue, were married Feb. 22, 1943 in Hagerstown, Md. They moved to Rock Hill Road in 1948. Mr. Blue died Jan. 21, 1991.
Mrs. Blue was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Waynesboro.
Mrs. Blue enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, singing, yodeling, playing the piano and gardening.
She is survived by one daughter, Carola K. Copenhaver of New Market; four grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was the last of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 11 in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1 East Fifth St., Waynesboro, with Elder Thomas Hennlein and Rev. Shane Anderson officiating.
Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 10 in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle.
