Master Gardeners offer bus trip to Longwood The Franklin County Master Gardeners will host a bus trip to the renowned Longwood Gardens Saturday, May 10. The bus will leave the Extension Office, 181 Franklin Farm Lane in Chambersburg, at 6:30 a.m. and return at approximately 6:30 p.m. The cost is $60 (which includes bus fare, admission and tour tickets, and all tips) and space is limited. Call the Extension Office at 717-263-9226 to reserve a seat by April 25. Known as one of the most beautiful gardens on the East Coast, Longwood Gardens features seasonal flowers and trees that should be at peak bloom. After the normal one-hour tour scheduled for noon, participants will be treated to a special 30- minute behind-the-scenes look at how "Longwood" prepares their flowers for exhibit. Lunch will be "on your own" at the Terrace Restaurant on the grounds, and there will be plenty of free time to explore the gardens. The bus will depart from the Franklin County Extension Office parking lot at 6:30 am, arriving at Longwood by 9:30 a.m. At 11:45 the group will assemble near the Conservatory for the tour and go off in-groups of 15. The bus will head back to Chambersburg at 3:30 p.m. and should arrive around 6:30 p.m. |
