Gospel concert

A Gospel concert featuring the Couriers and the Brothers will be held from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, April 19 at the Pleasant Hill United Brethren in Christ Church, 3664 Coseytown Road, in the fellowship building.

Revival services

Revival services will be held at the Greencastle Church of God, 4480 Buchanan Trail West, Greencastle, April 20 to 23 with Dan and Pearlyn Stultz from Bedford serving as evangelists. Services will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 20 and at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, April 21 to 23.

There will be music and ministry of the Word of God to help encourage in these trying times. All are welcome.

Worship and praise

WAYNESBORO - Waynesboro Otterbein Church will hold "Heart's Cry," an evening of extended contemporary worship and praise at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary, 801 Park St. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

"The purpose of Heart's Cry is to provide opportunity for an extended period of time to worship. At Heart's Cry there isn't a sermon, ordering or announcement like on Sunday morning," said Dave Besecker, Otterbein's director of music and worship. "It's just a time of worship through singing, prayer and scripture."

The music at Heart's Cry is contemporary and is led by a worship band. The atmosphere is casual. The evening will be led by Dan Horochowski, an experienced worship leader and a member at Otterbein. The band is made up of bass, drums, electric and acoustic guitar, keyboard and a few singers.

Spring convocation

A Spring Convocation will be held at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg April 22 and 23. The subject of the event will be "Thou Shalt (Not): Lutheran Perspective(s) on the Decalogue in Public Discourse."

Bus trip

STATE LINE - Trinity UCC in State Line will host a trip to Lancaster to the Living Waters Theater to see Abraham and Sarah - A Story of Faith at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, May 22.

The cost is $72 per person which includes a buffet lunch at Shady Maple, show ticket and driver's tip.

Wolf Bus Line will leave Trinity UCC at 10 a.m. with a pickup at 10:30 a.m. in Greencastle at Grace UCC.

Speaker Israel Cohen, representative of Chosen People Ministries, will be speaking at Grace Bible Church at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 9. He will be presenting Christ in the Tabernacle, showing how each piece of furniture points to the Messiah and God's plan of salvation. Chosen People Ministries endeavors to present the Gospel message to Jewish people throughout the world.

Gospel concert

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The Jacobs Brothers from Dillsburg will present a Gospel concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 10 at Virginia Avenue Baptist Church, 17426 Virginia Ave.

Everyone in the tri-state area is cordially invited to attend this evening of inspiration and praise.

Benefit Gospel concert

MERCERSBURG - An evening of gospel music will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 12 at the James Buchanan Middle School, 5191 Fort Loudon Road. This concert will feature The Stamps Quartet and Dave, Duane and Neil (originally known as The Couriers). The opening act is a local group of performers called Reminisce. The concert will be hosted by Sam Mason of Southern Light 91.3 radio station.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Alisha Keller Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Tickets are available at Modnur Pharmacy in Mercersburg and St. Thomas, Sunnyway Food Markets in Chambersburg and Greencastle and Freed Spirit in Waynesboro.

Tickets are $18 in advance and $22 at the door. Seating is limited.

Weekend healing retreat

A "Weekend Healing Retreat " for women who have experienced the loss of a child through abortion will be held Friday, April 11 through Sunday, April 13. This event is sponsored by Pure Grace 101, the Post Abortion Ministry of Pregnancy Ministries, Inc. Pre-registration is required and space is limited. All contacts are strictly confidential.

Bible conference

Sharpsburg Bible Church, 5134 General Stuart Court, Sharpsburg, Md., will hold a Bible Conference on Mon., April 28, 7 pm, sponsored by the Fellowship of Bible Churches.

Concerts at Central

CHAMBERSBURG - Concerts at Central will present Dr. Garth Hangartner in a concert of new and old works for French horn at 3 p.m. April 27 at Central Presbyterian Church.

The concert will include W. A. Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 3 K447, the world premiere of Psalm 23 composed by Dr. Hangartner for tenor voice, horn, and organ, and Variations on Amazing Grace by Richard Rosolino. Central Presbyterian Church's resident organist, Helen Wingert, will accompany, joined by Lee Merriman, tenor.

Dr. Garth Hangartner joined the staff at Central Presbyterian Church as their Director of Music and Worship in August 2007, after serving several churches in Ohio and Alaska. He completed his Doctor of Musical Arts at the Cincinnati Conservatory in Composition and Horn.

The concert is free and open to the public.

School of Biblical Evangelism

CHAMBERSBURG - The first semester of The School of Biblical Evangelism will run through Saturday, May 19 and will meet at Christian Life Church, 1400 Warm Spring Road.

Classes will be held twice a month, one week day from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and one Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost is $50, payable in two payments. The format will be lectures with handouts, videos and role play using the material produced by The Way of the Master Ministry of Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron.

Book discussion group

WAYNESBORO - The Book Club Discussion Group of the Trinity United Church of Christ, 30 W. North St., is discussing Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth in the church's parlor from 9:15 to 10:15 each Sunday morning.

The group is open to readers of all ages, faith traditions, and backgrounds.

Holy Land trip

CLEAR SPRING, Md. - St. Paul's Church is sponsoring a Thanksgiving 2008 trip to Israel.

The trip, scheduled for Nov. 21 to Dec. 1, is being lead by the Rev. Dr. John A. Toms of State Line and is open to anyone.

All travel arrangements and logistics are being made by MTS Travel of Ephrata.
